Community Outreach
I am passionate about educating exercise professionals, coaches, and gyms about the importance of trauma-informed exercise spaces. In this work, I provide a respectful and informative space to learn about trauma, sexual and gender-based violence, and wellbeing. I also provide evidence-based, practical strategies for creating trauma-informed sport and exercise environments.
I also have expertise collaborating with mental health professionals to integrate exercise into health plans, creating exercise programs for trauma survivors, and advocating for more woman-focused research.
I have provided a few examples of my outreach below. I would love to have the opportunity to highlight research at your event or to your group.
Examples
Public Speaking
Speaking to an international audience about trauma-informed exercise strategies for women with histories of sexual violence.
Public Writing
Providing practical tips to help people with histories of sexual violence prioritize their wellbeing.
Policy Briefs
Worked with the Society of Behavioral Medicine to advocate for policies which enhance safety for people at risk for interpersonal violence.
